ICA Maxi Gunnesbo in Lund celebrated its grand opening in October, with many skilled speakers on stage expressing gratitude to the partners involved for their hard work and patience throughout the project. Yet, the most powerful words came from owner Pär Friberg, who highlighted one of the key driving forces shared by everyone involved: the shared vision to create something unique.
We succeeded with that.
The latest ICA Maxi concept is beginning to take shape, with similarities noticeable across recent new establishments. Despite this, ICA Maxi Gunnesbo, with its vision, meticulous attention to detail, and determination, has succeeded in leaving a unique mark on the new store. This extends to the refrigerated cabinets produced by WICA in Småland. Conceptually consistent, familiar, and yet unique. With close and flexible production, only imagination sets the limits.

TopSlide by WICA
ICA Maxi Gunnesbo in Lund is one of the first hypermarkets in Sweden to feature WICA's sliding shelf system for automatic product fronting—TopSlide.
TopSlide is a glide shelf with a ceramic coating that ensures high glide performance, regardless of the packaging material. The thin rail dimensions and closely spaced divider slots allow for flexible arrangement without sacrificing product display.
TopSlide is delivered in smaller section sizes to facilitate cleaning and installation. Simply lift out the ceramic shelf section, which is custom-fitted to WICA's shelving units.
Cold rooms from Incold
In the case of ICA Maxi Gunnesbo in Lund, the turnkey approach has been maximized by entrusting Incold, a part of Wica, to supply cold rooms, along with rapid doors for the store. A clear advantage is consolidating everything with a single supplier and project manager, ensuring that all components are delivered and installed as planned.
The dairy section is spacious, open, and framed by a long dairy front. The glass door fronts from Wica Cold feature 1885mm tall LX doors, and the shelving system behind them streamlines restocking, creates a natural FIFO flow, and displays products in excellent lighting.
The fresh produce section is complemented by Osaka 3 LXQ shop-arounds, along with the open island SuperBilbao—perfect for impulse purchases while moving between the aisles.
